NISHIDA Kitaro wrote and donated this calligraphy. This is the school motto of his alma mater, Unoke Elementary School. When Kitaro wrote his calligraphy, he mostly used the pseudonym “Sunshin”. However this calligraphy is unusual in that he writes his real name as “Kitaro Sho”. This plaque hung in the gymnasium and principal's office at Unoke Elementary School for many years, and was transferred to the museum in 2013. In addition to plaques, Kitaro also donated books to Unoke Elementary School.
