The Otachiyakata Site is located in Otachi, Hodatsushimizu Town, and comprises the remnants of a residence from the Sengoku period. The site consists of a main enclosure measuring approximately 80m on each side, surrounded by a northern secondary enclosure and an eastern secondary enclosure, with each divided by moats and earthen ramparts. The overall area is vast, measuring about 300m east to west and 200m north to south, with the moats and ramparts remaining in excellent condition.
The main enclosure features a large double moat that is approximately 6.5 to 12m wide at the top, 2.7 to 7.5m wide at the bottom, and 3 to 5.5m deep. Between the moats, there is an earthen rampart that is about 8.5m wide and 2.5m high, indicating a strong defensive structure.
The exact date of construction is unknown, however artifacts such as Haji pottery, ceramics, and bullets suggest activity during two periods: the late 14th to early 15th century and the late 16th century. Excavation results also indicate that there were significant renovations to the moats and ramparts in the late 16th century.
The site was designated as a Historic Site of Ishikawa Prefecture on April 7, 2006.
