Artifacts from the Yayoi period include an increasing number of wooden products such as building parts, agricultural tools, containers and eating utensils, weapons and armor, and tools for festivals, as well as their unfinished products and manufacturing tools.
The Yokaichijikata Site in Komatsu City produced many agricultural tools for paddy rice cultivation: hoes and plows used to create rice fields and irrigation canals, farming clogs used for harvesting and threshing, wooden knives, mortars and pestles and round mallets.
A refined legged serving tray decorated with flower petals, from the late Yayoi Period was excavated from the Shirae-kakehashigawa Site in Komatsu City. It is highly likely that it was made at the Aoyakamijichi Site in Tottori City, and others have also been found at the Shirae-nenbutsudo Site in Komatsu City and the Sainen / Minamishinbo Site in Kanazawa City.
Colored pattern lacquerware (diameter 17.8 cm) from the end of the Yayoi Period was excavated from the Yuminami Komadarahimon Site in Kaga City. It is a cylindrical container with a handle. After the entire surface was coated with black lacquer, patterns such as straight lines were elaborately drawn on with red lacquer (lacquer with red iron oxide). The production techniques and other characteristics are similar to those of the Korean Peninsula, northern Kyushu, and the San-in region. It is thought that they were made between northern Kyushu and the San-in region.

Ishikawa Archaeological Foundation

Opened in 1998 as an open facility for the excavation and organization of excavated artifacts and the publication of reports on buried cultural properties (archaeological sites) that convey the history and culture of Ishikawa prefecture, as well as to hold exhibitions and lectures that make use of the results. The exhibition rooms comprise sections organized by theme and era, where you can see and touch precious earthenware and stone tools discovered from archaeological sites throughout the prefecture. In 2001, they also opened the Ancient Experience Area, where you can enjoy learning about the lives and techniques of ancient people. Both adults and children can learn about local history in an accessible and easy manner, while deepening their interest and understanding of cultural properties.
