The Uneda Nabeta Site is located in the alluvial lowlands of the Kanazawa Plain. The site is thought to be closely related to the ancient port site in the surrounding area, as it is lined with the most outstanding large-scale dug-in pillar buildings in Ishikawa Prefecture.
A small flower-patterned decorative fitment for a waist belt, measuring about 3 cm on each side, was found in the rain drain of a building with dug-in pillars. The fitment is made from a bronze core with a cast flower pattern based on arabesque motifs, and covered with gold leaf. Additionally, the outside of the pattern is coated with black lacquer that contrasts with the gold color to make the pattern stand out.
There are currently only three examples of gold-plated belt fitments with flower patterns like this in Japan, and since they were often seen in the belt fitments of the Khitan people, which was a dominant people in the northeastern part of the Chinese continent, it is thought that they may have come to Japan with the Bokkai envoys, which had diplomatic relations with Japan at the time. Based on the discovery of this fitment, some researchers believe that this site was an accommodation facility for the Bokkai mission.

Ishikawa Archaeological Foundation
Opened in 1998 as an open facility for the excavation and organization of excavated artifacts and the publication of reports on buried cultural properties (archaeological sites) that convey the history and culture of Ishikawa prefecture, as well as to hold exhibitions and lectures that make use of the results. The exhibition rooms comprise sections organized by theme and era, where you can see and touch precious earthenware and stone tools discovered from archaeological sites throughout the prefecture. In 2001, they also opened the Ancient Experience Area, where you can enjoy learning about the lives and techniques of ancient people. Both adults and children can learn about local history in an accessible and easy manner, while deepening their interest and understanding of cultural properties.
